With billions of connected IoT devices we need to manage their identities and credentials in a very dynamic way in order to battle the complexities of large deployments. In this talk we will take a novel approach to handle identities using a permissioned blockchain. The framework is in many ways similar to the traditional PKI, but has several advantages. We show how the concept of smart contracts can be used to do brokering of identities between different security domains which will help the IoT eco-system harmonise the management of IoT identities.

Takeaway

With billions of connected IoT devices we need to approach the identity management problem with greater flexibility. Using a blockchain and the smart contract features we show a dynamic and versatile way of handle identities and do brokering of identities between different security domains.
