Track: Internet of Things
Format: 50-Minute Technical Session
Audience Level: Intermediate
Recording: TBD

The developed world is quickly spinning towards the types of technology applications portrayed in the movie Minority report. Multi-touch interfaces, gesture recognition, smart sensors, connected devices, artificial intelligence, personalized advertising. The practical reality is an ever growing complexity of usage scenarios and a plethora of competing standards which will challenge the embedded community tasked with the creation of "out of box experience" for the end user. This session will explore briefly the history of "digital machines" and then explore the challenges and tools available to the embedded software engineer for developing robust, device to cloud connectivity solutions.

Increasing demand for connected devices & cloud connectivity, rising concerns for security, competing standards to further complicate implementations, pressure on time to market, decreasing project timelines coupled with less engineering resource; all necessitate a better structured approach in IoT projects, a simpler device to cloud solution.

Intended Audience

Most suited to embedded software engineers and engineering managers with at least one IoT project experience
