Should I Use C++14 in an Embedded System?
Embedded Software Development
50-Minute Technical Session
Audience Level: All
This session will explore the facts and legends that surround using C++ in an embedded system. Specifically, we will delve into various aspects of C++ and explain what can be used in an embedded system that will make your code the same size and speed had you coded it in C. We will also detail which C++ constructs can be used carefully in an embedded system and which ones should be avoided if possible. We will finish up by explaining the differences in C++14 versus older standards.
The developer will have a better understanding of the efficacy and limitations of using C++ in their embedded system so that their code can be more portable and efficient.
This session is intended for all embedded software developers who might consider using C++ in their next design as well as for developers who think that C++ should never be used in an embedded design!
