Senior Manager, Operating Systems,
Stephen Olsen is a noted embedded industry expert with extensive experience in embedded software development, thought leadership, product management, and communications. Currently he is a Sr. Manager for the Operating Systems Business Unit focused on the Industrial, Aerospace and Defense markets for Wind River. He manages the VxWorks® real-time operating system (RTOS), and the VxWorks 653 (VxWorks' commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) ARINC 653 RTOS) with a focus on safety related products. Prior to Wind River, Stephen was involved with Mentor Graphics as a product manager, system architect, RTOS engineering manager and consultant. Stephen works with the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) technical committee, and has been involved with the Multi-core Association's OpenAMP, MCAPI, MRAPI, and Multicore programming practices working groups. He co-chaired VSIA's Hardware dependent Software (HdS) design working group. Stephen has authored several papers on safety systems, system design, USB, multicore/multi-OS design and power management. He was awarded a patent on debugging hardware accelerated operating systems.
